Course Description: Epidemiology in Action is a limited enrolment course where participants learn, through a variety of lectures, case studies and hands-on exercises, to apply epidemiologic principles and utilise relevant technical tools in the conduct of public health investigations.

In 2014, Epidemiology in Action will be delivered in two separate, yet interrelated, sessions; participants will have the option of attending one or both of the following: Session 1: Outbreak Investigations and Applied Public Health ( September 8 to 19, 2014) Participants will learn and apply a systematic approach to the investigation of infectious disease outbreaks and other public health issues, with an emphasis on applied epidemiologic principles. Session 2: Describing and Analyzing Epidemiologic Data using Stata (September 22 to 25, 2014) Participants will learn and apply techniques to effectively utilise Stata software to conduct descriptive and quantitative analyses of epidemiologic data, specifically within the context of public health investigations. All applications will be reviewed and participants will be selected on the basis of the above criteria.
